As you may know, our Capital Improvement Project construction plan is underway in the Jr./Sr. High School. To ensure that we stay on track with our approved timeline, and to have the auditorium ready for the class of 2019 graduation, we plan to begin renovations to the Jr./Sr. High School auditorium on Monday, March 18, 2019.

The planned and approved work will include:
• Replacing the auditorium seating
• Painting and replacing materials on the walls and floors
• Replacing the heating system and installing air conditioning units

In order to replace the heating system and install air conditioning, some disturbance to the ceiling in the auditorium is required. However, per safety regulations, the area will be closed off from the rest of the building and will not disrupt the work environment of our students and staff.

As a reminder, testing for hazardous materials is required before and during any capital construction. We have met these requirements in the auditorium and will continue to test the environment during the progress of the project, wherever work is being done.

The auditorium will be closed off for any and all purposes between now and graduation (with the exception of the buildings and grounds crew.) Staff, students, and community members may not enter the auditorium until the completion of the project. We ask this to ensure the safety of the HLCS community.

In regards to the auditorium construction, starting Monday, March 18, 2019, the outside of the auditorium will be fenced off. We kindly ask that no one uses the auditorium entrance (with the exception of the buildings and grounds crew.) Please be reminded that access to the fenced off area is prohibited until the work is completed. This includes restricted use of the traffic circle near the auditorium entrance. BOCES students will be picked up and dropped off at the main entrance in the front of the building. Mr. Ovitt will give further detailed instructions on this in the near future.

The entrance between the auditorium and the cafeteria will remain available to staff and students, as will the entrance by the gymnasium.

We thank you for your cooperation and are excited to begin these much needed renovations in the hopes of debuting a beautiful space for our community at the class of 2019 graduation ceremony. If you have any questions, please contact the district office.
